North River Road Park top

Located on North River Road across from Speedy Q and down the hill is the North River Road Park. The park has a softball diamond, two tennis courts, basketball court, playground equipment, picnic area and access to the Black River.

The Summer Recreation Program uses the tennis courts to instruct local children the fundamentals of tennis. Please call the township office for summer recreation program information.

The Girls Softball League uses the softball diamond. Call Robert E. Crawford for scheduling at (810) 982-7820 of the softball diamond. The flat area at the bottom of hill provides access to the Black River and picnic area.

The Mercy Village Bike / Pedestrian Path top

Located on the Mercy Village grounds is a bike / pedestrian path. Work is underway to connect this path to the M-25 path with the proper curb openings at the traffic light entrance to Lowe’s. The path wanders through the Mercy property all the way to Krafft Road.

Keewahdin Beach/Fort Gratiot County Park top

The Keewahdin Road Beach is one of the little known treasures in the Township but all who go there enjoy it.

The County Parks and Recreation Commission recently completed Phase 1 Development of the park, which includes an entrance on Metcalf Road, park roadways, parking areas, water, sewer lines and underground electrical lines.

M-25 Bike / Pedestrian Path top

Constructed in the spring of 2002 the path is along M-25 from McDonald’s to the intersection of M-25 and Keewahdin. Future plans for this path are to connect it with the path at Mercy Village when the proper curb opens are constructed.

Other plans include extending the path north along M-25 and connecting to the path at the Wetland Nature Preserve behind Meijer’s.

Bike / Pedestrian Path and Wetland Nature Park top

The Bike/Pedestrian Path begins at the Fort Gratiot Middle School on the right-of-way of Vincent Street.

Vincent Street takes the Bike Path to the old Pierre Marquette railway bed. The path goes east on the railway bed to just east of the township office then turns north to the Brandymore Drain.

The path runs along the Brandymore over to Parker Road then across Parker to the Wetland Nature Preserve. The township has more than ninety acres of property that the bike/pedestrian path will provide access to in the Wetland Nature Preserve.
